Show Notes

Have better recall of your dreams!

  • It’s simple—each morning write down what you can remember of your dreams.
  • If you haven’t already listened to my earlier episode on 6 ways to remember your dreams, check it out here!
  • In that episode, I used an acronym (“DREAMS”) and the R stood for Reflect, meaning writing them down in a dream journal

  1. You’ll make the most of the time we spend sleeping & dreaming
  • Most people sleep for about 20 years of our lives, so we spend about 3-5 years in a dream state
  • Your brain does not shut off at night—if anything, it’s more active at night
  • Night is when you’re consolidating information from short to long-term memory, so if you’re having any memory issues, you might want to check on your sleep
  • Sleep cleans out plaque that leads to aging challenges
  • If you’re not sleeping, you’re not dreaming
  • Check out this episode for more information on sleep and memory: Improve Your Memory With A Good Night’s Sleep with Dr. Michael Breus

  1. It will help with creative problem-solving
  • While you’re asleep your brain is coming up with answers in your creative imagination
  • Elite performers have huge lessons in their dream states e.g. top athletes might come up with a shift in a club hold or jump shot, then apply it in the real world for huge results—but to do this you first have to have the ability to remember the dream

  1. It will improve your ability to remember your dreams
  • We want you to start writing down your dreams before you do anything else in the morning
  • For a reminder of Jim’s morning routine check out this episode: My Morning Routine (How To Jumpstart Your Brain & Day)
  • It might take a while for you to master: in the beginning, you might not be good at it (remember no-one is good at anything at first!) but over time you’ll get better and start remembering more of them
  • When you share your dreams with others you’ll make them more important to you and so start improving your ability to remember them

  1. Buy a dream journal—if you can’t get one, you can use a pad of paper—a dedicated dream journal is best
  2. Every morning do the very best you can to record your dreams
  3. Share your progress with us!

Take a photo of your dream journal, or take a screenshot of this episode, and post it to social media to share your progress with us!

  • Keep trying this challenge each day—it will train your ability to create new habits!
  • This is essential to building a different life—first your create your habits and then your habits create you!
  • If you’re able to create one new habit, what else will you be able to do? Possibilities will open up because you’ll be in the habit of creating empowering habits.
  • Remember: the treasure you seek is found in the task you’re avoiding!
  • Big change come from little changes: consistency compounds—it might feel like a gradual shift, but you’ll soon find yourself in a different destination (we call it a destiny).
